Carolina Tarwheels Grant Program 2015
Once a year, the Carolina Tarwheels Bicycle Club awards grants from the profits of our annual Bikefest ride in Hillsborough to local organizations that support and promote cycling. In early September, the club called for proposals for our 2015 grant program. The selection was made very difficult as we received uniformly excellent proposals all of which were deemed worthy of support. At its meeting on October 21st, the Tarwheels' Board decided to fully or partially fund a number of groups working on a wide variety of projects, ranging from cycling advocacy and education to facilitating youth cycling and racing. The Tarwheels are very pleased to announce groups receiving awards this year are: Bike Durham, BikeSmart-GrowSmart, Chapel Hill Cycling, Constellation Cycling, the Durham Bike Co-op, Kidical Mass, Luna-Chix, Oaks and Spokes, and the Triangle Bike Works. Want more information about what these groups do? Plan to attend the Tarwheels club meeting on November 19th, where a number of them will be attending to describe their work and receive their award.
